I think it is wrong to share or sell data that a customer has given to you as part of your product or service.
That being said, I can't avoid participating and consuming from all companies that do this since it is a common occurrence. I can, however, build my products, services, and company with the values important to me and not participate in the activity of selling or sharing customer data.
I am not opposed to advertising. I am concerned and opposed to certain types of targeted advertising. Specifically the type where personal data is shared or sold to multiple parties and targeted for a single individual. Another word for this is tracking - essentially following the user around by means of their browser to show them targeted advertising.
